i was thinking
what's the point of any of it of life of this existence of being a grown-up my mentor lost his daughter in a car wreck she left behind 2 young children my friend lost her mom to cancer another friend's baby was born with severe medical complications the klan and the alt right feel comfortable stepping out with trump in office caring white people are shocked people of color experience too often ignorance + evil they know it's still all around us white supremacy racism privilege swirl around us + within us what's the point of life when it's so hopeless when at any moment we could be struck with pain this pain took me out for a moment because i don't get it and can't change it i ask my mentor my friends they tell me the same thing in different ways love stronger be kind to one another hug your children i hear them but it doesn't seem enough or maybe it doesn't seem i am strong enough but i listen i try to love stronger a few days later i'm driving in the car let it be is on the radio and when the broken-hearted people living in the world agree there will be an answer let it be tears flow i get it we're all struggling doing our best amidst the pain + injustice that pain we can't always stop it but we can stop hiding we can nod to its existence we can accept pain it's a part of life we feel it we let it be let it be not to say pain + injustice are right but we let it be so we can take the next step to love stronger within our own hearts + lives to love stronger that's the golden spot within us all that's the inner strength that allows us to carry on to move forward with positive action to bring positive change to our inner world to create our happy home to make the world a better place wishing you the gift of getting strong in the love of you so your love becomes so strong that even if the world is all wrong you are all right within you've let it all be so you can live your strong love everyday p.s. a couple summers back i was at a weekend workshop for women i was sharing how my life is all about finding peace + acceptance within a younger woman looked at me sideways with a bit of judgment like how sweet hippy lady like peace + acceptance were weak later that day i shared more of my life story the young woman got it on a whole new level that peace + acceptance aren't fluffy new-agey dreams but i was like that young woman too for a long time when i first started working with parents i thought a happy home how sweet + trivial like a happy home is surface like a happy home isn't what it's all about but now i know for sure in your happy home your needs are met you are a good parent because your feel like a good parent you believe in yourself and the goodness in your children you believe in here's a step to build your happy home this very week starting today powerfully + simply notice when your home feels most happy when you feel most happy within.... what are you doing? saying? thinking? feeling? and your children too.... when do they seem most happy? what are they doing? what are you doing? what's going on in your home in that moment? then give yourself the gift of doing that very thing feeling that very way thinking that very thought every day (it might seem overly simply yet it's sssooo challenging to make happen) you can do it believe in you believe in your happy home You Got This.p.s. One of the greatest gifts as a parent is to build our happy homes together! Stay tuned for more info about the Happy Home online program this fall. Hi friends, I write from the heart to tell my life story, and the story of those in my neighborhood called life. Research shows that our children's emotional & mental health is contingent upon us parents being able to tell our life story, or "coherent narrative." This is my coherent narrative, my life story in the making, with some of what I love in life too. My goal is to share my life in a way that is real, uplifting & positive- sometimes serious, sometimes fun. In my practice, I inspire parents to empowerment through reclaiming our life stories and learning respectful discipline. My work is my offering to our children- our future. Wishing you all a happy family! Archives
