a "that child" is the who is always... * melting down at the store * grabbing toys from other kids * hitting other children * getting in trouble at school the child for whom you don't know what else to do the child you throw your hands up in the air about and if you do have a "that child" currently what's so important to remember is that child is everyone of us every parent on planet earth has experienced a that child at one point or another it's time to humanize that child + that parent so when we see them in the store school or the library we can lend them a supportive smile + words of kindness it's also important to remember that your "that child" has important gifts to share with our world very often a child's gifts are wrapped up in their challenges so whatever behavior your child is demonstrating know that somewhere close to this challenge is your child's strengths + gifts so what to do if you have a "that child?" this is my favorite tool: try your best to pretend that your child isn't actually your child what if your child was actually a friend's child or a niece/nephew how would you interact with + support this child then do your best to apply the same level of neutral support to your own little one working with a child's challenging behavior or when a child is consistently a challenge is sssssooo hard we're supporting you every step of the way for more tools to work with "that child" behavior join us for the FREE happy home acceptance challenge beginning oct 1st more details to come! Mama Megan
Hi friends, I write from the heart to tell my life story, and the story of those in my neighborhood called life. Research shows that our children's emotional & mental health is contingent upon us parents being able to tell our life story, or "coherent narrative." This is my coherent narrative, my life story in the making, with some of what I love in life too. My goal is to share my life in a way that is real, uplifting & positive- sometimes serious, sometimes fun. In my practice, I inspire parents to empowerment through reclaiming our life stories and learning respectful discipline. My work is my offering to our children- our future. Wishing you all a happy family! Archives
